St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Bolsters Cancer Care in the LC Valley
Two medical oncologists and a nurse practioner join the cancer care team
LEWISTON, IDAHO – St. Joseph Regional Medical Center added two medical oncologists and a nurse practitioner at its St. Joseph Cancer Center & Blood Institute in July, bolstering the hospital’s ability to provide high-level cancer care to area patients.
Dr. Abeer Arain, MD, MPH, Dr. Tyler Buckley, MD, and Erik Cooper, ARNP, are the newest team members, doubling the number of physicians and nurse practitioners providing comprehensive, advanced cancer care at St. Joe’s.
Arain and Buckley, who are accepting new patients, join Dr. Gerardo Midence among the medical oncologists/hematologists at St. Joseph Cancer Center. Cooper and Michele Dickison, ARNP, are the nurse practitioners. The medical center also added a radiation oncologist, Dr. Robert Fairbanks, last December, at the Radiation Oncology Center.
“We are delighted and proud that three outstanding care providers – Dr. Abeer Arain, Dr. Tyler Buckley and nurse practitioner Erik Cooper – have decided to bring their talent and knowledge to the team at St. Joe’s Cancer Center,” Ed Freysinger, CEO of St. Joe’s said. “We have made it a priority to enhance medical services in our region by recruiting top-notch talent, and the arrival of these clinicians, along with the addition late last year of Dr. Robert Fairbanks, shows our efforts have been successful. We want our friends and neighbors in the LC Valley and throughout the surrounding areas who are in need of high-level cancer care to know that we are here for them and able to serve them, right here, close to home.”
The St. Joseph Cancer Center & Blood Institute is located at 1250 Idaho Street in Lewiston, and the Radiation Oncology Center is located near the hospital’s main campus at 514 6th Street. Complete information on cancer care services can be found at sjrmc.org/cancer.
