This board-certified medical staff integrates compassionate care with state-of-the-art research, diagnostics, and treatment methods. St. Joe;s features a team of dedicated specialists to diagnose disorders of the nervous system. Diagnostics and treatments are available for adult and cover a wide spectrum from strokes and various brain issues to dementia and sleep disorders.
The highly-trained staff at St. Joe's understands how the very complex nervous system and how it controls many parts of the body. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord, 12 nerves that come from the brain and the nerves that come from the spinal cord. Whether it’s determining mental status, motor function and balance, sensory issues, reflexes, or an evaluation of the nerves of the brain and spinal cord, our staff provides excellent care with diagnostics and treatments.
Our Neurodiagnostics Department consists of EEG, or Electroencephalography, and the St. Joseph Sleep Center. An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test that is performed by a Licensed Electroencephalographic Technologist, which measures and records the electrical activity of your brain. Certain conditions, such as seizures, can be seen by the changes in the normal pattern of the brain's electrical activity.
Tests are provided to adult and geriatric patients. Hours for EEG are 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The St. Joseph Sleep Center performs outpatient sleep studies on during the night to help rule out sleep related disorders. These are performed by a Licensed Polysomnographic Technologist. Polysomnograms are tests that record your heart rate, oxygen saturation, airflow, and sleep stages to diagnose sleep sleep-related disorders. Examples of sleep-related disorders include: sleep apnea, narcolepsy, sleep walking, night tremors, insomnia, and periodic limb movement disorder are just a few examples.
The Sleep Center operates 7 p.m. to 7a.m. Monday through Friday on patients age 4 and older.
