Outpatient Diagnostic Observation
The Outpatient Diagnostic Service is a unique treatment program at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center's Mental Health Center. It offers intensive observation and treatment in a secure setting to quickly clarify diagnostic questions.
When the evaluation process is complete, the patient may be placed back in the community with outpatient follow-up or complete a brief stay in the hospital if necessary. The average stay in the outpatient diagnostic program is 23 hours or less.

- Psychiatric evaluation.
- Medical evaluation.
- Nursing assessment.
- Psychosocial assessment.
- Lifestyle/living assessment.
- Medication management.
- Milieu treatment.
- Group, individual and family treatment.
- Discharge planning.
- Specialty consultation as needed.
- Chaplain services.
