Patient Care Team
Total patient care is the goal of our entire health care team. The team's emphasis is on health education, emotional support, problem-solving and goal-setting with patients and their families as active participants in treatment planning.
The Oncology Team includes:
Board-Certified Physicians
Chemotherapy- and Biotherapy-Trained Registered Nurses
Oncology nurses are on the front lines of chemotherapy delivery, providing education, side-effects management and emotional support to patients and their families.
Physicist
Ensures the correct radiation treatment is given by calibrating the machines and calculating doses.
Dosimetrist
Specializes in the operation of radiation equipment and calculations of dosing in cooperation with physicist and oncologist.
Radiation Therapists
Operate the radiation therapy machine during treatments.
Social Worker
Provides education about cancer issues; counsel and emotional support; referrals to community resources; and support services, assistance with financial applications, medical forms, and Advance Directives.
Registered Dietitian
Provides education regarding nutritional issues and helps identify diets that might maintain strength, improve tolerance to treatments and decrease adverse side effects of treatments.
Pharmacist
On-site pharmacy staff prepares chemotherapy and treatment-related medications.
Financial Advocate
Helps access financial assistance programs for those who meet financial eligibility criteria.
